Project Investigators

Our project investigators include skilled clinicians and statisticians who are prominent faculty from the Department of Anesthesiology, Tulane University School of Medicine, and the Department of Biostatistics, Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

• Francis Rosinia, M.D., the Principal Investigator, is a Board-certified Anesthesiologist with 22 years of experience in patient care. He has trained at Ochsner Medical Foundation, New Orleans, Louisiana, and at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Rosinia is a member of the Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Surgical Quality Alliance, the Surgical Quality Alliance Clinical Data Registry Work Group, the Committee on Practice Management of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the HCA Anesthesia Advisory Council, and the Committee on Performance & Outcome Measures of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and he serves on the Executive Committee for the Louisiana of Society of Anesthesiologists.

• Dr. Larry Webber, M.Phil., Ph.D., Full Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, will supervise and direct the statistical analyses performed. Dr. Webber has 38 years of experience in biometric and statistical research, and is an expert in statistical analysis methodology. Dr. Webber serves as a journal reviewer for many prestigious publications, including Preventive Medicine, American Journal of Human Biology, International Journal of Epidemiology, International Journal of Obesity, Pediatrics, Epidemiology, American Journal of Epidemiology, American Journal of Public Health, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, BMC Public Health, and International Journal of Pediatric Obesity. He has also served as a member of 29 NIH Review Committees, and is a member of the American Statistical Association, the Biometric Society, the American Public Health Association, the American Heart Association, the American Heart Association Council on Epidemiology, Sigma Xi, and Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society.

• Dr. John Lefante, M.S., Ph.D., Full Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, will serve as a Co-investigator for this study. Dr. Lefante is an expert in statistical data interpretation, sample size, and health care quality, access, and evaluation. He has received six Excellence in Teaching Awards from Tulane University, and was named to the Delta-Omega National Public Health Honor Society in 1993.

• Laurie Freyder is a Master’s level epidemiologist.  She has 20 years of experience in relational database management, investigative analysis, population level monitoring and evaluation, and interim/summary reporting in the academic research, corporate and legal environments.
